Happy Thursday everyone! It's Leda here - just popping in to introduce our next Guest Designer - Rachelle of Rachness Designs. Our team here at Zig Zag Scrap is thrilled to have her joining us for a bit. She has filled
her shop with so many fun hand-drawn doodles - and yes, some of them are C/U items! I really want to show you some previews of her designs because I was lucky enough to have the chance to play with her super-cute kit,
I Dream of Fall
and I loved it! But, it was also really fun for me to learn a little bit about the person behind the designs, so first let's take a minute and learn more about Rachelle!
What is it that you like to design the most?
Doodles and cliparts. I love to draw. I can spend hours drawing on my tablet or doodling on my sketchpad and notepads. My notebooks back in school had more doodles on it than class notes. In fact, until now, my reporters notebooks have more doodles on it than notes!
How long have you been designing?
I only started selling my designs online around the middle of last year. But I've dabbled in designing newsletters, banners, invitation cards, stickers, posters and photo cards here in my city for about 8 years now. For the past 10 years, I have also been working on the side as layout artist for my father's newspaper business.
How many hours do you spend designing a full kit?
With my journalist's (hectic) schedule, I don't get to spend as much time as I would love to designing a full digital scrapbook kit. Hence, I sell more doodle packs as they are quicker to whip up. I would love to spend as much as 10 hours (wishful thinking) on it, but I can only squeeze in about 2 hours a day, which is when I get home from work.
Do you scrap? If so, can you show us your favorite layout?
Unfortunately, I don't really scrap pages. I enjoy designing, but scrapping, not so much. Maybe its because I don't have kids yet to scrap about? I do have a couple of pages but not many.
What are you passionate about other than scrapping?
Writing (obviously) and dancing. I write to express and hopefully, educate and enlighten people with whats going on around them. If I can change even just one persons way of life or thinking for the better through my stories, I would consider myself successful for the rest of my life. On the other hand, I love to dance but never pursued it professionally (I have weak ankles).
Can you tell us a bit about your daily life? (where you live, your family, your job, your routine... whatever you want to share here...)
Well, Im still single so my life isn't that exciting! I own two dogs (soon to be 3!) and feed 5 cats that live in my work building. My job as a journalist means Im constantly writing and covering events. I also speak in trainings for children and the youths on Children's Rights for Unicef. I dream of one day quitting my job to travel around the world, writing stories about the people I meet and the places I have been to. I received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior when I was 12 years old, love frozen yogurt and dark chocolates, can't stand techno music, hate Math, love a guy named Chris. :-)
